Turkish Airlines cancelled more than 400 flights scheduled on Monday and Tuesday due to heavy snowfall in Istanbul.
A total of 250 flights, including 120 international flights, were cancelled on Monday, while 150 others, including 80 national flights, are expected to be cancelled on Tuesday, according to the airline.
The most affected routes due to these cancelations will be the flights from and to many European cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Rome, Venice and several German airports.
Most of the cancelled international flights were scheduled to take off from Istanbul Ataturk Airport, the main international airport in Istanbul.
Turkish Airlines also cancelled seven international flights on Monday and 11 others on Tuesday from Sabiha Gokcen, the second largest airport located on the Asian side of the Turkish city.
In addition, Turkish low-cost Pegasus Airlines cancelled 26 flights on Monday and another 27 on Tuesday, including seven international flights due to bad weather conditions.
Snowfall is affecting much of western Turkey amid fears of traffic paralysis in Istanbul.
