United Airlines increases non-stop service between Sydney and LA

United Airlines has ramped up its non-stop service between Sydney and Los Angeles to five-times-weekly from today.

The Sydney-Los Angeles service resumed in September, and with the addition of the two extra flights, United will operate the service on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Customers travelling from LA will depart for Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

In addition to the Sydney-LA non-stop service, United has been operating daily service between Sydney and San Francisco throughout the pandemic to support Australian residents needing to return home, medical professionals, as well as the transport of critical cargo shipments of essential medical supplies, PPE and mail.

United is the only carrier that continued to offer regular service between Australia and the US throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, United also operated nearly 200 cargo-only flights between the two countries between April and September.

With the expansion of the Sydney-LA service, United will operate a total of 12 weekly flights between Sydney and its hubs in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

United’s director of sales for Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti, Julie Reid, said: “We are excited to add two more weekly flights to our Sydney-LA service to offer our customers in Australia more flight options to the US and beyond.

“We are proud to offer continuous service between Australia and the US and provide Australian customers in the US with an option to return home conveniently. We will continue to provide this essential air service and maintain our connectivity between two countries.”

United is also waiving change fees for new international bookings through to 31 December 2020.
