Today, United Airlines launches its Brisbane to Los Angeles service with the inaugural flight of UA 284, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
The new non-stop service will fly three times a week and significantly increases capacity to the U.S. out of Brisbane.
United now has more flights between the U.S. and Australia and the U.S. and New Zealand than any other carrier in the world, as well as more than all other carriers in the U.S. combined. By the end of this year, United will operate 66 flights between the U.S. and the South Pacific region every week. With nearly 50% growth over the past year, it is the largest expansion to the region in U.S. aviation history.
United Airlines now flies non-stop services out of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Los Angeles and San Francisco with connections to more than 270 destinations across the Americas.

The new service brings the total number of flights between Brisbane and the U.S. to ten each week. There are now daily non-stop flights between Brisbane and San Francisco and non-stop
flights between Brisbane and Los Angeles three times a week.
“We are excited to see the launch of this service in time for the start of the summer holidays. We know a trip to LA and Disneyland has long been a bucket list item for many families. It is also
great news for Queensland exporters. And importantly, it will boost the flow of American visitors to Queensland,” says Brisbane Airport chief executive officer, Gert-Jan de Graaff.
“We expect 1 million passengers will travel through the International Terminal these holidays, up 46% on last year, and the United Airlines services to Los Angeles and San Francisco will be an
important part of that growth. To see two Dreamliners from United Airlines on our tarmac for the first time is a magic moment.”
United’s expansion to the South Pacific region has recently seen additional services added throughout Australia, to now offer daily flights to Los Angeles and twice daily flights to San
Francisco from Sydney, daily flights to both San Francisco and Los Angeles from Melbourne as well as increased passenger capacity on the San Francisco to Melbourne route.
