Three Aussie jurisdictions have eased travel restrictions with Western Australia, following Perth and the Peel region’s emergence from lockdown.
As of today, Victoria’s Chief Health Officer has moved Perth and the Peel region of WA from red to orange zones under the states ‘traffic light’ travel permit system.
People travelling from an orange zone to Victoria must obtain a permit and isolate, get a test within 72 hours, and stay isolated until they receive a negative result.
Those currently in 14-day quarantine as red zone arrivals will be allowed to end their quarantine upon returning a negative test. However, people in 14-day quarantine as close contacts of Tier 1 exposure sites, including flight QF778, must remain in self-quarantine for 14 days.
Anyone who has arrived in Victoria from Perth and the Peel region from 17 April until red zones came into effect must isolate, get tested and stay isolated until negative.
South Australia has also eased restrictions for travellers from WA’s Perth and the Peel regions.
However, those have been in either region on or after 17 April must get tested as soon as possible and quarantine until they receive a negative test, as well as submit to additional tests on day five and day five after arriving.
Furthermore, travellers from Perth and Peel region are not permitted to attend a ‘COVID Management Plan’ event or enter a high-risk setting for 14 days after their arrival.
Those currently in quarantine from a restriction zone will be able to leave quarantine after receiving a negative COVID-19 test result in the first test, unless they have been otherwise directed by SA Health.
The Northern Territory’s Chief Health Officer has revoked Perth and WA’s Peel region in as hotspots for the purposes of travel.
This means that people arriving in the NT from these areas will no longer have to undertake mandatory supervised quarantine. Anyone currently in mandatory supervised quarantine from Perth and the Peel region will be able to exit.
