Vietjet has announced five new routes between Vietnam and China while signing two major strategic agreements with SPDB Financial Leasing for the finance lease of 10 COMAC C909 aircraft and with AVIC Cabin Systems to develop aircraft interiors and aviation supporting industries.

The combined initiatives mark a significant step in expanding Vietjet’s network, strengthening fleet and financing capabilities, and advancing aviation technology cooperation between Vietnam and China, while enhancing broader Asia-Pacific connectivity.

The announcements were made during the state visit of Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam to China, at the invitation of Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

Expanding connectivity between Vietnam and China

At the Investment Cooperation Conference in Beijing, Vietjet unveiled five new routes: Hanoi–Hangzhou, Hanoi–Enshi, Hanoi–Huangshan, Ho Chi Minh City–Guilin, and Ho Chi Minh City–Huangshan. The Hanoi–Enshi and Ho Chi Minh City–Guilin routes have been operating since early April 2026. These additions further expand Vietjet’s growing international network, enhancing connectivity between key economic, cultural, and tourism hubs while supporting the Vietnam–China Tourism Cooperation Year.

Over more than a decade, Vietjet has operated 131 routes between Vietnam and China, completing nearly 70,000 flights and carrying approximately 14.5 million passengers, connecting 55 Chinese cities with Vietnam’s major destinations.

Strengthening aviation finance and fleet strategy

As part of its growth strategy, Vietjet has also signed an agreement with SPDB Financial Leasing (SPDBFL), a subsidiary of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, to finance aircraft through operating leases, with a larger scale and deeper level of cooperation, covering up to 10 COMAC C909 aircraft.

It also lays the foundation for the introduction of COMAC aircraft on routes between Vietnam and China, supporting the airline’s continued network expansion. The agreement also enables Vietjet to expand and modernise its fleet through diversified financing structures, optimise operational efficiency, and strengthen access to international capital markets. This fleet growth supports increased capacity across Vietjet’s broader international network, helping to sustain competitive fares and growing demand for travel across the region.

Advancing aviation technology and industrial development

Complementing its network and fleet expansion, Vietjet has also entered a comprehensive cooperation agreement with AVIC Cabin Systems to develop aircraft interiors and strengthen aviation supporting industries. The partnership also promotes supply chain localisation, and facilitating technology transfer, through collaboration with Jiatai, a member of AVIC Cabin Systems.

A range of cooperation initiatives were announced across aviation finance, engineering, logistics, and supply chains, highlighting a growing trend of deeper, more integrated partnerships between airlines, financial institutions, and industrial players. These collaborations are helping to unlock new opportunities for investment, strengthen regional value chains, and support long-term, sustainable growth across the Asia-Pacific aviation ecosystem.

Honouring educational cooperation and human resource development

On this occasion, COMAC University conferred the title of Distinguished Professor on Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, in recognition of her contributions to aviation research and development, as well as advancing international cooperation.

“Collaborations between Vietjet, Sovico, and leading Chinese partners are opening up new development opportunities.  not only for businesses but also for the broader economic ecosystems of both countries,” Vietjet chairwoman Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said. “In a rapidly restructuring world, relationships built on trust, long-term vision, and shared values will form the foundation for sustainable success.”

With its continued network expansion and deepening partnerships across finance, technology, and industrial development, Vietjet is positioning itself at the forefront of regional connectivity and aviation innovation.
