Vietjet has officially announced the appointment of Nguyen Thanh Son as its new managing director, succeeding Dinh Viet Phuong.

Nguyen, who has been with operator Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company since its inception, playing a key role in shaping the airline’s innovative business and marketing strategies, Vietjet will lead the new-age carrier into its next phase of development.

His appointment comes as Vietjet continues to grow its operations across Australia, with six direct routes connecting Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth to key destinations in Vietnam.

Vietjet is the biggest Vietnamese airline flying between Australia and Vietnam, and recently revealed record business results and continued global expansion at its 2025 Annual General Meeting. It also announced ambitious growth plans for the next decade and continued expansion of its Asia-Pacific flight network with the launch of its newest international route.

Nguyen holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in aviation economics and has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry.

Vietjet expects Nguyen will lead the carrier on a new journey toward greener, smarter growth, fostering deeper global connectivity, and delivering meaningful values to passengers and communities worldwide.
