Viking has held the latest instalment of its Vor Nights events, hosting more than 100 travel agents in Newcastle last week.

Vor Nights are named after Vor, the Norse goddess of wisdom, and are designed to educate and engage travel agents through a relaxed evening that includes a three-course meal and drinks. The events showcase Viking’s river, ocean and expedition voyages, and are aimed particularly at agents who are new to the cruise line or looking for a refresher on its product.

The format combines product insights with interactive elements, including prizes. At the Newcastle event, river and ocean voyages were up for grabs, along with an Antarctica voyage awarded to one lucky winner. Champagne and rewards by Viking points were also offered on the night.

A highlight of the Newcastle session was a “Viking row”, in which the Viking team had the room of agents take part in a rowing exercise, creating what Viking described as a lively and engaging moment.

In a separate but related activity, Viking founder Torstein Hagen carried out his own Viking row in Oslo, leading crew aboard one of the line’s ocean ships in a show of support for Norway’s national football team.

Viking has encouraged travel agents and industry followers to view footage of both events via the cruise line’s Instagram and Facebook channels.
