Hundreds of people named Josh have gathered in Nebraska after a viral Facebook joke manifested into an epic battle.
On 21 April last year, a 22-year old college student from Arizona named Josh Swain sent a message to several other people who shared his name instructing them to meet him exactly a year later in Lincoln, Nebraska, according to CBS News.
“We fight, whoever wins gets to keep the name, everyone else has to change their name, you have a year to prepare, good luck,” he said.

Swain’s message quickly went viral and, as per his instructions, exactly a year later on 21 April, hundreds of people named Josh from around the country descended on Air Park in Lincoln to wildly swing pool noodles at each other in order to determine the one true Josh.
The winner was four-year-old Josh Vinson Jr, who was nicknamed “Little Josh” by the crowd and received a Burger King crown for his efforts.
As well as the pool noodle battle, the Joshs engaged in a rock-paper-scissors duel, and attendees donated “a ton of food” to the Food Bank of Lincoln and raised more than $8,000 for the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Foundation in Omaha.
Little Josh’s dad, Josh Vinson Snr, told The Lincoln Journal Star that his son suffered from seizures when he was about two, so his victory seemed meant to be.
As for Swain, he claimed that he had an “out-of-body experience” following the mass meet-up.
“I’m sitting in my hotel room alone, just trying to act like I wasn’t with 2,000 people just fighting for their name,” he said.
“It’s incredible.”
