Virgin Australia has officially re-entered the holiday packages space, launching Virgin Australia Holidays as fresh research reveals travellers are increasingly looking to bundle their trips through airlines.
The research, conducted by Virgin Australia and YouGov, found 75 per cent of travellers are more likely to book a holiday package through their airline, highlighting growing demand for one-stop-shop travel planning.
Virgin Australia chief marketing and customer operations officer, Libby Minogue, said Virgin Australia is continually seeking new ways to enhance the customer experience, with Virgin Australia Holidays directly responding to evolving consumer expectations.
“Virgin Australia Holidays marks an important step in expanding our offering beyond flights and into a more complete travel experience,” Minogue said.
“With more Australians seeking value and convenience, we’re bringing together flights, accommodation and Velocity benefits in one seamless booking experience, delivering greater value and at a time when cost of living remains front of mind.”
The new platform, launched in partnership with travel marketplace Hopper, allows customers to book flights and accommodation together in a single transaction, marking a significant expansion of Virgin Australia’s leisure offering beyond air travel.

Launch sale
To celebrate the launch, Virgin Australia Holidays has dropped a sale with packages starting from $745 per person, based on two travellers flying return from the Gold Coast to Denpasar on Economy Choice fares with four nights’ accommodation.
Velocity members will also be able to earn and redeem points on all holiday packages, with eligible bookings earning up to 4.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent, alongside Status Credits on eligible flights.
The move comes as packaged travel continues to rebound strongly, with airlines increasingly leaning into bundled holiday products as travellers seek convenience, value and loyalty perks in a single booking journey.
Virgin Australia Holidays adds to the airline’s growing ancillary and loyalty ecosystem, while also strengthening its position in the competitive leisure market ahead of the busy mid-year travel season.
Virgin Australia Holidays was first launched in 2003 before being discontinued in 2020 amid the pandemic.
The research from Virgin Australia and YouGov found 50 per cent of surveyed Australians say they’re looking for simpler and more time efficient ways to plan their holidays, while 75 per cent are more likely to book a holiday package through their preferred airline, where price-competitive packages are offered.
