Velocity Frequent Flyer members are celebrating the announcement of tripled Reward Seat availability on flights between Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth to Doha.

The expanded offering applies to travel between June 12 and December 10 and is in response to a surge in demand for redemption seats.

97 per cent of members rate redemption seats as their top preference for redeeming Points.

Reward Seats are available for both Economy and Business Class, with Economy fares starting at 42,000 Points one-way (plus taxes, fees, and carrier charges) and the award-winning Business Class Qsuite available from just 89,500 Points one-way (plus taxes, fees, and carrier charges).

Passengers flying with Qatar Airways will enjoy an exceptional travel experience aboard Boeing 777 aircraft. Business Class travellers can relax in the luxurious Qsuite, while all passengers benefit from complimentary Starlink high-speed internet, the first of its kind in the world.

Beyond the onboard perks, travellers gain access to seamless global connections via Doha’s Hamad International Airport, which has been recognised as Skytrax’s World’s Best Airport three times, Best Airport in the Middle East for a decade, and the World’s Best Airport for Shopping for the last two years.

Enhanced Virgin Australia partnership with Qatar Airways

Virgin Australia’s strengthened partnership with Qatar Airways unlocks access to a wide array of destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. New services from Australia to Doha are scheduled to begin on the following dates, pending regulatory approval:

  • Sydney to Doha: June 12, 2025
  • Brisbane to Doha: June 19, 2025
  • Perth to Doha: June 26, 2025
  • Melbourne to Doha: December 1, 2025

Nick Rohrlach, chief executive officer of Velocity Frequent Flyer, said the announcement highlighted the program’s commitment to delivering great value rewards and exceptional travel experiences to meet the needs of its members.

“The tripling of Reward Seats available to our Velocity members between Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Doha means that international travel is more accessible than ever,” he said.

“Whether it’s a bucket-list trip to Europe or a dream holiday in the Middle East, there’s never been a better time to be a Velocity Frequent Flyer.

“On-board, passengers will enjoy an unparalleled experience. Business Class travellers will fly the luxurious Qsuite Business Class and all travellers will be provided complimentary access to Starlink, the world’s first ultra-high-speed, low-latency internet offered in-flight. They’ll also get seamless connections through one of the world’s best airports, Hamad International Airport.

“We know this is a big investment Virgin Australia is making to support its new flights for the European Summer. We also know this will drive greater member engagement with our program and for our partners which is the key to continued growth and success of our Velocity program.”
