Virgin Australia has launched a massive New South Wales sale with 500,000 Economy Lite fares to Byron Bay, Sydney, and Newcastle from $55 one way and valid in both directions.
Spanning across the Virgin Australia domestic network, the sale into New South Wales is helping make local travel more accessible to some of the country’s best coastlines and holiday hotspots.
Whether it’s experiencing city culture, relaxing on stunning beaches or enjoying the world’s leading multi arts festival, Vivid Sydney (22 May to 13 June 2026), there’s an NSW destination to suit every traveller.
Sale fares are available to book until 11:59pm AEST 26 April 2026 (unless sold out prior), for selected travel dates between 19 May 2026 and 16 December 2026.

Velocity Frequent Flyer Points
With millions of Australians currently sitting on a Velocity Frequent Flyer Points balance, the airline is making it easier than ever to turn Points into holidays.
Virgin Australia Reward Seats are available to book from just 5,900 Points for a one-way Economy fare (plus taxes, fees and carrier charges) representing some of the lowest value Rewards Seats of any Australian airline loyalty program. With Points easy to earn through everyday spend, it’s a practical and cost-conscious way for Aussies to book their next holiday.
Virgin Australia also recently launched Australia’s first all-in-one flight search tool combining cash fares, Points + Pay and Reward Seat options together in a single calendar view, making it easier for Velocity members to utilise Points amid the high cost of living.
Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer
Due to rising fuel and operating costs as a result of events in the Middle East, in March Virgin Australia made modest fare adjustments. The airline remains focused on offering accessible Velocity Frequent Flyer Reward Seats and competitive fares, with today’s sale demonstrating this commitment.
“We know value matters more than ever, which is why we’re making it easier for Australians to get away with fares starting from just $55 one-way into NSW’s most popular travel destinations,” Virgin Australia chief marketing and customer operations officer Libby Minogue said.
“Byron Bay, Sydney and Newcastle are gateways to stunning landscapes and vibrant cultural hubs, making them ideal destinations for a long weekend getaway or even a spontaneous midweek escape.
“With strong Reward Seat availability across a host of domestic destinations, Velocity Points are another way we are making it easier for Australians to go on their next holiday.”
