Virgin is giving you the chance to book return flights to Vanuatu for 50 per cent off.

The deal runs until 18 June and is available for return flights from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Vanuatu is only a three-hour flight from Australia’s East Coast, making it the perfect destination to bathe in the Pacific sun this Australian winter.

Virgin Australia recently won the best cabin crew award in the prestigious AirlineRatings.com awards for the fifth year running.

CEO, Virgin, Jayne Hrdlicka said the award reinforces why customers choose Virgin, “We’ve rebuilt the airline from the ground up and continued to invest in areas that truly matter to our guests, and I am incredibly proud this has once again positioned us as one of the top ten airlines globally in the AirlineRatings.com Airline Excellence Awards.”

The Airline is also readying for an IPO expected sometime in the second half of this year.

US investment firm, Bain Capital currently holds 93 per cent of the airline and is set to recoup most of its $700 million-plus investment.

However, Virgin will soon be forced to increase the wages of 500 out of 600 workers who are currently paid just over the award rate following the rulings of the Fair Work Commission’s wage ruling.

Both ground and cabin crew will see an increase of 5.75 per cent coming into effect at the start of the next financial year (1 July).

The recent sale from Virgin comes three months after dual cyclones hit Vanuatu.

The flights will be welcomed by Vanuatu Tourism Office CEO, Adela Issachar Aru, who promoted the return of tourists to the island paradise soon after the event.

“While many local communities in Vanuatu have been impacted, we can also report that so many of our tourism operators are fully operational and will be welcoming new guests this week as flights have now resumed,” Aru said.
