Virgin Voyages has kicked off its first Alaska season, with Brilliant Lady now sailing from Seattle offering a kid-free alternative in one of cruising’s most popular destinations.
The adult-only line has developed Alaska-specific programming for the season, including two new onboard characters – a Lumberjack focused on Ketchikan’s timber history and a Naturalist covering wildlife and ecology – alongside a Cultural Heritage Guide from Alaska Native Voices appearing on select voyages to lead workshops on Indigenous art, storytelling and contemporary Alaskan culture.
Eight Alaska-inspired dishes have been added across the ship’s restaurants for the duration of the Pacific Northwest season, built around king crab, Alaskan halibut and black cod. New onboard experiences include a mixology class focused on Alaska-inspired cocktails and a sketching workshop using birch canvas.
On sustainability, Virgin Voyages says more than half of its Alaska shore excursions are operated by certified sustainable tour operators, with the ship equipped with advanced wastewater treatment and shore power capability.
A fulltime wildlife expert is onboard, with the marine team trained on whale sighting and collision-avoidance protocols.
For agents, the line is offering 16 per cent commission with no non-commissionable fees. The Always Included model covers dining across more than 20 restaurants, group fitness, entertainment and Wi-Fi.
