Virgin Voyages will debut its first Scandinavia and Baltics season in summer 2028, sailing Valiant Lady from a new homeport in Amsterdam, with a season highlight of a voyage crossing above the Arctic Circle to 71 degrees north.
The season comprises six itineraries, each featuring at least one new port for the line, framed by two one-way voyages between Barcelona and Amsterdam. The centrepiece Arctic Circle and Norwegian Fjords sailing runs from 14 to 25 August, 2028, calling at Bergen, Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Trondheim, Åndalsnes and Olden, and includes an onboard ceremony marking the Arctic Circle crossing under 24-hour daylight. Other itineraries include a Norwegian Fjords sailing calling at Molde, Nordfjordeid, Flåm and Bergen; a Scandinavia and Stockholm voyage with an overnight stop in Stockholm and a rail excursion to Berlin; and a Scandinavia and Hamburg sailing with late-night port stays in Copenhagen and Hamburg.
Virgin Voyages board member and senior advisor John Lovell said every voyage in the season featured a new destination.
“This isn’t that. Every voyage in this season has a new destination, and it’s new to your client too,” Lovell said.
The line will also bring back its Summer Season Pass for the new region, allowing guests to sail all four Northern Europe voyages back-to-back aboard Valiant Lady. The pass includes a Central Sea Terrace cabin for two, US$15 per person, per night in onboard drink credit, a complimentary shore excursion per voyage, one complimentary Arctic Circle excursion, upgraded onboard Wi-Fi, laundry service, a spa pass per voyage, priority boarding, and a private breakfast with reserved viewing for the Arctic Circle crossing ceremony. Pass holders also receive a welcome package including Nordic-themed food and drink items, a jacket, port guides and travel accessories.
Bookings for loyalty members and travel advisors open on 13 August, 2026, at 2pm AEST, with general bookings and Season Pass pricing opening the following day. The Scandinavia and Baltics season runs from 9 July to 4 September, 2028.
Virgin Voyages will also expand its Mediterranean program in 2028, operating two ships simultaneously in the region: Scarlet Lady from Athens and Valiant Lady from Barcelona. The line will add four new ports across the two ships, including Venice, Koper, Ravenna and Portofino/Santa Margherita, and will run 38 Mediterranean voyages in total, comprising 29 sailings of six to seven nights and nine sailings of eight nights or more.
Combined, the Northern Europe and expanded Mediterranean programs represent Virgin Voyages’ largest European deployment to date, with the line citing 41 per cent growth in European capacity compared with 2026 and 16 per cent growth compared with 2027.
