Travel junkies everywhere are trying desperately to find a means of escape within the confines of their own homes.

Whether you’re recreating a cruise holiday in your living room or spending your downtime furiously swiping through the Tinder for holiday planning, everybody has their own way of coping with being cooped up.

The latest virtual holiday creation was set up by Aussie comedian Rob Shehadie, whose self-isolation airplane trick gained some serious love on social media.

Shehadie, who is known for his role the TV show Fat Pizza and is a co-creator on the Channel Nine show Here Come the Habibs, managed to create the illusion he was flying out of the country using his washing machine and a computer screen.

The comedian posted the short clip accompanied by audio of a pilot announcement and Enya’s “Only Time” to his social media channels, racking up just under 4,000 views on Tik Tok, more than six thousand likes on Twitter and just short of 500 Facebook reactions.

The replies on Shehadie’s Twitter post were also a standout, with one punter commenting “I always wondered what that machine was in the house. Never tried to use it before… been missing out!”.

“Thanks for the best laugh I’ve had in days. Have the same washing machine so now planning my next holiday!” said another.
