Qantas’ Project Sunrise Airbus A350-1000ULR has completed its maiden test flight, marking a significant milestone ahead of the launch of non-stop commercial flights from Australia’s east coast to London and New York.
“To see the physical aeroplane flying is so exciting, having talked about it for quite a while now,” said Qantas chief technical pilot, Alex Passerini.
The test flight marks the beginning of an eight-week trial campaign with Airbus pilots set to log around 80 hours of flight testing.
Qantas will announce the first Project Sunrise route and timing of its inaugural commercial services later this month.
