The travel industry’s top thinkers descended on Cairns Convention Centre again in May for Travel Weekly’s Travel DAZE annual get-together.
Have a glimpse at some of our guest speakers. Highlights included opening speaker Kerrie McCallum, Head of Travel, Food & Health, with News Corp Australia, followed by David Hovenden CEO of The Misfits Media, publisher of Travel Weekly, taking a deep dive with the President of the Republic of Palau – yes, the president of a head of state – Surangel S. Whipps, Jr.
Then there was ATIA’s CEO Dean Long and joint-CEO of Bunnik Tours and CATO chairman Dennis Bunnik, plus Simon Westaway, CEO of Australian Airports Association. Followed by Travel Weekly general manager and publisher Hoda Alzubaidi who hosted New York brand guru Ana Andjelic, Atlantis Dubai’s Hanan Eissa, and Tauck Australia’s David Clark on building a luxury brand.
Other hots included Dan Krigstein from News Australia’s The Growth Intelligence Centre and The Growth Distillery, Maria Parisi from The Travel Corporation’s Tour brands, Contiki’s Jayesh Kesry and Lisa Pile from Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Intrepid Travel’s Yvette Thompson on the recruitment trail.
And thanks to Flight Centre Group’s Megan Henderson, who stepped up late in the piece, and Magellan Travel’s Iain Summers for their all-too-brief insights.

Travel Weekly would like to thank all the speakers, sponsors, AV team, and our own Misfits Media team of brilliant organisers for another successful Travel DAZE.
