Business Events Geelong has assured the MICE industry that it is still committed to supporting events in the region, as the COVID-19 outbreak continues to wreak havoc.
Mark Day, convention bureau manager at Business Events Geelong, gave the assurance in an email update last month, which you can read in full below:
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to send shock waves through our industry, my team and I are looking at recovery strategies and how our industry can work together to rebuild after this unprecedented event.
Events people are a resilient bunch. And after the next few months of mandated (but necessary) measures, we must all undertake to protect the health of our society’s most vulnerable; your role of facilitating face-to-face meetings will become more valuable than ever.
Although my team and I are doing our part by engaging in social distancing measures implemented by health officials, I want to assure you all that we are still 100 per cent present to support you and your event in our region. Our industry has the privilege of working months and even years in advance when it comes to planning events, which is why I am urging those with events in our region not to cancel but to postpone.
To help take some pressure off your shoulders, my team and I are available to help facilitate any discussions that you may need to have with our region’s venues and suppliers to help reschedule any immediately affected events you may have.
We are here for you and we will do everything in our power to help you transition through this challenging time. In the meantime, we must continue our cooperative approach so that we can all come out the other side stronger than ever before.
