A new consumer-facing online booking platform has launched that aims to connect travel-hungry Aussies with struggling tourism companies.

Australian owned and operated, DealsAway was conceived, developed and launched in just five months during the COVID-19 pandemic by the team behind Global Work & Travel, one of the world’s largest e-commerce youth work and travel brands.

CEO and co-founder Jürgen Himmelmann said DealsAway was built with a strong commitment to positively contributing to the recovery of the travel industry during and post-pandemic.

“We recognised a significant opportunity to connect intending travellers hunting for a great-value getaway, with businesses currently struggling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

“We aren’t shy to enter a competitive market against online booking juggernauts such as Luxury Escapes and TripADeal, as we are blending the best of both worlds; bringing e-commerce and person-to-person customer service together for the best booking experience possible.

“We are confident in our world-class technology and Australian-based customer service experience.

“Put simply, we will provide Aussies with the same service they know and love, paired with the convenience of being able to access everything they need to plan a trip from home.”

DealsAway chief operating officer and co-founder Jon Tindley said it was a critical time for the travel industry to proactively collaborate and work together in new ways to survive and thrive.

“We wanted to develop something beneficial to both the customer and the industry during these challenging times,” he said.

“We hope the launch of DealsAway will instil confidence in the Australian travel industry that tourism is still well and truly alive.”

Chief technology officer and co-founder Vahid Ebrahimi said the platform’s “world-class” booking engine will make it easy for Aussies to travel this year.

“We have an incredibly talented team of developers who have designed the platform to inspire and encourage Australians to holiday locally,” he said.

DealsAway has partnered with over 70 industry players to offer 45 exclusive pre-packaged global travel experiences across accommodation, tours, cruise, and rail. It is also pledging a 10 per cent price beat guarantee (of course, conditions apply).
