Unusually warm and dry weather patterns in central Europe have forced APT and Travelmarvel to cancel some river cruises on the Danube River and the Rhine.
The unseasonal weather has led to low water levels in parts of the rivers.
Despite this, the APT Travel Group (ATG) has successfully run all river cruises this season and on occasion has used ship swaps to work around low spots on the Danube with great success.
However, with vast areas of the route between Amsterdam and Budapest becoming too shallow to cruise, ATG has no option but to cancel a small number of APT and Travelmarvel river cruises scheduled to sail throughout these regions.
These cancellations affect four APT cruises, as follows:
- 26 October 2018 – Amsterdam to Budapest
- 26 October 2018 – Budapest to Amsterdam
- 27 October 2018 – Amsterdam to Budapest
- 27 October 2018 – Budapest to Amsterdam
Also affected is the following Travelmarvel cruise:
- 29 October 2018 – Amsterdam to Budapest.
ATG has advised guests booked on the affected cruises will receive a full refund on any travel arrangements booked through APT or Travelmarvel.
ATG is committed to working with river authorities to ensure that regulations are followed.
“The safety and care of guests and staff is ATG’s highest priority and as such we will continue to monitor the situation,” ATG said in a statement.
“ATG regrets any inconvenience to guests and further updates will be issued as required.”
