Patagonia has announced the Australian digital release date for its short film, KIN showcasing the enchanting, World Heritage-listed, Lord Howe Island.
Directed by Lauren L. Hill and Andrew Bucley, featuring professional surfer, Dave Rastovich, KIN will be available to stream for free at Patagonia.com.au from 29 February 2024.
Patagonia’s newest short film, KIN, showcases the value of Marine Protected Areas for local communities and a thriving ocean.
Located in the Pacific, Lord Howe Island is home to several rare, and in some cases threatened plants and animals which often leads authorities to take drastic measures to ensure the preservation of the ecosystem.
The film is being released for free on Patagonia’s website in a bid to encourage other communities to take steps to protect Australia’s amazing marine ecosystems and call for the full protection of 30 per cent of Australia’s ocean by 2030.
“We’re all sea creatures on Earth’s largest island, absolutely dependent on a living ocean,” the film’s director, Lauren L. Hill, said.
“As a family, the ocean is where we play, connect, and are humbled by our smallness.
“But protecting Australia’s ocean is about so much more than just here and now.
“It’s about safeguarding marine sanctuaries that will impact generations to come – securing a future that is not only habitable but thriving.”
Since Patagonia’s founding in 1973, the company has remained committed to using the business as a force of good and supported grassroots environmental groups.
