AirAsia has now officially revealed its partnership with popular Australian comedian, Lizzy Hoo, following a soft teaser launch last month on her socials.
The comedian also appeared at AirAsia’s brand activation at Laneway Festival in Perth, a series of videos and content featuring Lizzy will be released on AirAsia’s YouTube channel over the coming months. This starts with the first from the AirAsia “Who’s Hoo” series of which was posted on the weekend on AirAsia’s YouTube channel to officially launch the collaboration.
The new partnership is aimed at broadening the appeal and awareness of great value travel and connecting Australian audiences to Asia and beyond in a humorous and entertaining way as part of the brand’s broader strategy to highlight the fun and playful manner that AirAsia has been well-known for.
“Fun and entertainment underpin our brand and personality, and Lizzy identifies well with our Australian, Malaysian, and wider Asian audiences,” AirAsia chief commercial officer, Amanda Woo, said. “Comedy and humour are a universal language which everyone understands and loves, and Australians do love a good laugh.”
“We are really excited about confirming Lizzy Hoo as our newest brand partner by tapping into local cultures on our vast network and using comedy to help stimulate travel for the most exciting and funny adventures.
“We look forward to working with Lizzy over the coming year to elevate our great value, award-winning service and incredible network, which appeals to everyone seeking an affordable travel experience to their favorite and many unique and less known destinations.”
Born in Brisbane, Australia, Lizzy from Brissy as she is affectionately known, welcomed the new partnership. Lizzy’s dad is originally from Malaysia, and her parents met in Penang whilst her mum was backpacking in the 70s.
“Travel is such a powerful experience,” Lizzy said. “I wouldn’t be here if my mum hadn’t gone to Malaysia. She always encouraged me to see the world and experience different cultures.
“I can’t wait to travel across Asia and share with you some of my experiences with some fun content that encourages everyone to get out there and see the world. Life is more fun when you have a trip planned.”
The AirAsia “Who’s Hoo” video series to launch the AirAsia association was developed in collaboration with Stupid Old Studios, one of Australia’s premiere comedy studios and comedy creators.
As part of the new partnership Lizzy Hoo will be heard and seen in the coming year on AirAsia aircraft, experiencing firsthand AirAsia’s award-winning service travelling to some of AirAsia’s popular and unique destinations, and joining the team on-ground at the upcoming immensely popular Sydney City2Surf which AirAsia sponsors as well as other Australian events to be announced.
