U.K-based company, On Site Events, has removed the San Fermin festival from its itinerary, becoming the latest to pull the plug on the annual event in Spain described as sadistic.
On Site Events made the decision after hearing from animal rights group, PETA, who said on their UK website, “The ritualised killing of bulls doesn’t belong on anyone’s travel itinerary, so we’re delighted to see On Site Events take this progressive step.”
On-Site joins the growing majority of travel companies, like; The Travel Corporation, Club Med and G Adventures, in stopping any promotion of bullfighting.
More than 125 Spanish towns and cities have rejected the butchering of bulls for entertainment, however, in Pamplona, up to one million visitors will travel to the city during the annual festival.
PETA U.K’s website has a link to a petition that reads, “Bullfights, like gladiator combats, must be consigned to the history books. Please sign our petition to the mayor of Pamplona, urging him to end this barbaric slaughter now.”
