Uncovering Thailand’s hidden gems
The Tourism Authority of Thailand recently wrapped up a familiarisation trip sponsored by Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways and Boonsiri Catamaran.
Ten travel agents and two trade journalists joined the Meaningful Trat famil designed to support long-term tourism dispersal by spotlighting the lesser-known islands of Koh Chang, Koh Kood and Koh Mak.
The purpose-led itinerary blended fun, culture and hands-on experiences including golf buggy races, indigo dyeing and squid fishing.
Thailand’s Trat Province is a peaceful coastal gem, ideal for clients seeking pristine nature, quieter islands and authentic local charm.
Sitting pretty along the Gulf of Thailand near the Cambodian border, the region’s three main islands offer a calmer alternative to Thailand’s more commercial beach hubs.
Koh Chang is ideal for active travellers and families, offering a wide range of resorts, trekking and diving.
With its clear waters, secluded beaches and boutique resorts, Koh Kood appeals to luxury and romance travellers, while Koh Mak is a favourite of slow-travel seekers, know for its cycling routes, community activities, and a strong focus on sustainability.
From nature-based adventures to exclusive hideaways, these islands offer travel advisors a solid portfolio of experiences to match diverse traveller demands.
