An unidentified woman has died having fallen from her cabin balcony onto the deck several floors below.

The woman was aboard Carnival Cruises’ Elation ship, which was travelling from Jacksonville, Florida to The Bahamas.

According to Carnival spokesperson Vance Gulliken, the response to the incident was quick, though unfortunately the woman could not be saved.

“The ship’s medical team responded immediately, but, unfortunately, she passed away,” Gulliksen said in a statement.

“The incident was reported to all proper authorities and CARE Team support was offered to fellow travelers and her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and her family.”

According to the Miami Herald, another passenger onboard the ship texted her mother after the incident describing the ship as having “blood everywhere”.

In the past year, Carnival has had three passengers pass away because of falling related incidents.

Last year in October, 8-year-old Zion Smith fell off the Carnival Glory while it was docked in Miami.

In February of 2017, 24-year-old Kevin Wellons passed away having fallen off the Elation while the ship was travelling towards the Bahamas.
