The World Expeditions Travel Group (WETG) office was awash with colour last week as Sydney staff celebrated National Reconciliation Week, to raise funds for community projects in the Northern Territory.
The WETG team participated in the national ‘Wear it Yellow’ fund-raising campaign for Children’s Ground, a First Nations organisation delivering community-led programs grounded in culture, language and local leadership in the Northern Territory.
This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme is ‘All In For Reconciliation’, encouraging all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day.
“National Reconciliation Week is a reminder that reconciliation requires all of us to step off the sidelines and take meaningful action,” said World Expeditions Travel Group global sustainability & impact manager Donna Lawrence.
“Adventure travel is all about connecting with people, culture and Country, so supporting initiatives such as Wear it Yellow is a natural fit for our team. It was fantastic to see so many staff embrace the challenge and turn our Sydney office into a sea of yellow for such an important cause.”
Children’s Ground works with nine communities in the NT with a First Nations led approach designed to promote change over generations.
The organisation’s workforce is 66 per cent First Nations, and its programs support these communities through integrated education, health, employment, cultural and community development initiatives.
