World Travellers has appointed Jodie Burnard as general manager as part of a two-year strategic growth plan.
Burnard is set to commence her role on 10 August 2026 and brings more than 20 years of travel industry expertise.
Burnard’s career has seen her take on senior leadership roles across Flight Centre Travel Group’s New Zealand portfolio, including head of communications, PR & group partnerships and general manager of marketing, as well as global product leader at Envoyage Group.
She also worked as GM of marketing and creative services at Stella Travel Group New Zealand and marketing manager for Harvey World Travel.
Most recently, Burnard worked as a consultant with SHOWPONI to support PR strategy and project delivery across the New Zealand-based marketing company’s travel portfolio.
The World Travellers board and recruitment panel said that Burnard’s depth of industry knowledge and direct experience with independent agents were key factors in her appointment.
“While going through our very robust and quite challenging recruitment process, Jodie always showed up with warmth, professionalism and relatability,” World Travellers chair Wendy van Lieshout said.
“She’s passionate, solutions‑driven and deeply committed, bringing energy and optimism. She really impressed us all and is a great fit for our cooperative.”
In a post on LinkedIn, Burnard expressed her enthusiasm for the appointment.
“I am excited to be joining the World Travellers family, massive thanks to Wendy van Lieshout and the board for letting me join their exciting journey ahead, I can’t wait to get started!”
Burnard takes over from Dave Nicholson, who will depart the role in August after eight years leading the company.
