R&B and art fans rejoice! You can now take a tour of the Louvre inspired by your faves Beyoncé and Jay-Z
The king and queen of rap and R&B recently filmed their first single as The Carters at the art gallery, after famously going on a private tour with their first daughter, Blue Ivy back in 2014.
The self-guided tour showcases 17 artworks from the couples Apesh*t music video, including Winged Victory of Samothrace, Solario’s Madonna of the Green Cushion, Venus de Milo, Portrait of a Black Woman, the Great Sphinx of Tanis and, of course, the Mona Lisa.
The video, much like its name, has gone apesh*t online, racking up over 56 million views on YouTube since its release a fortnight ago.
Unfortunately, it’s currently only available in French, but according to Lonely Planet, the gallery might add additional languages in due course.
We don’t care what language it’s in, we’re just excited for a guide that will show us which paintings to pose in front of so we can channel our inner Beyoncé.
It’s not the first time the Louvre has based a tour around a famous pop star, with rapper will.i.am’s Smile Mona Lisa also copping its own audio tour, according to The Local FR.
The Local also describes the tour as a “celebration of black bodies and empowerment in an institution which was built on the spoils of conquest and imperialism.”
One thing is for sure: we can’t wait till our next trip to Paris to test this baby out!
