Zimbabwe making a comeback, CEO says

African Bush Camps, a collection of ten safari properties, has committed to the Australian market in partnership with Ynot Concepts.

African Bush Camps CEO Beks Ndlovu has visited Australia to meet with wholesalers, agents and media.

The privately owned company has opened ten camps in ten years in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Ndlovu reported a resurgence in interest to Zimbabwe. Australians associate the destination with nostalgia, he said, and it was not so long ago that there was a daily direct service between Australia and Harare.

Ndlovu said he has witnessed a rise in multi-generation family travel, with some cohorts booking out entire camps.

There is no age threshold for the family camps, and Ndlovu said age restrictions is not a safety issue but rather the desire of parents keen to have some alone time.

African Bush Camps has two openings slated for this year and next: the first, a luxury lodge called Thorntree Lodge in Zambia in May; followed by Khwai tented camp in 2018

The camps are all found in concession areas, so clients can do walking safaris and even a canoe safari in the marshland areas.
